Candy Chang, creator of the “Before I Die” project, recently launch a new project using fill-in-the-blank “I Wish This Was” stickers. Many cities have neighborhoods that lack basic necessities, like grocery stores, yet are full of vacant buildings and boarded-up storefronts. These stickers provide citizens with a means to voice their needs and concerns immediately and on-site. The project launched at Du Mois Gallery in New Orleans with the Ethnographic Terminalia exhibit. Thousands of free stickers were made available at local businesses, and grids of blank stickers were posted on abandoned storefronts and houses around the city. Stickers can be purchased here, or you could print your own – though Chang encourages would-be printers to print vinyl stickers, not paper, to ensure easy removal by future business/property owners.
